Stuck on Repeat? Let's Talk Patterns

Ever feel like you’re doing the work… but nothing’s really changing?

We’ve all been there. Same situations. Same reactions. Same outcomes.

That’s not bad luck…it’s patterns.

Patterns are just things we repeat. Some help us move forward. Others keep us stuck.

When a pattern works, it feels natural. Like showing up for something at the same time every day…it starts to flow.

But when a pattern works against us…it usually comes with frustration, guilt, or that nagging feeling of ‘here we go again.’

Take something simple like late-night snacking. We tell ourselves we won’t do it. Then we do it. Then we beat ourselves up for it.

That’s not just a habit…it’s a loop: thought, action, reaction. And we run it over and over.

The real question is, ‘Where else are we doing this?’

Because negative patterns show up everywhere:

  • In how we talk to ourselves

  • In how we react to others

  • In what we believe is “just the way it is”

They sound like, ‘I always mess this up. Nothing ever changes. Why even try?’

And the more we repeat them, the more real they feel.

But here’s the shift…it’s not just what we’re doing…it’s how we’re reacting.

Our reactions are clues.

The moments we feel triggered…frustrated, irritated, upset…that’s where the pattern is.

So instead of focusing on what someone else is doing, we can ask, ‘What’s going on inside of us?’

I had to learn this the hard way. I witnessed watching my mom complain about eating ice cream while she was eating it. Every time. It drove me crazy. I tried to fix it. Avoid it. Change it. Nothing worked. Why?

Because the issue wasn’t her. It was my reaction to her and once I saw that, everything shifted.

If we want to feel different, we have to respond differently. That’s how patterns change.

Because when we stay in the loop:

  • We keep ourselves stuck

  • And we keep others stuck with us

When we interrupt that loop…even slightly…we create space for something new.

It all starts with awareness.

So here are the real questions, ‘Where are we stuck on repeat? And what would it look like to respond differently…just once?’

That’s where change begins.

Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
