When Confidence Becomes Confidential

My sister asked me to do an energetic reading on a lump she felt under her arm. When I connected with the energy, I heard the word confident.
I could feel energy around that armpit…like she was protecting something. In no time, the next word that came through was confidential.
I said to her, "This has to do with confidence somehow. You can be confident, but it doesn't have to be confidential."
That made sense to her based on what she was moving through in her life at the time.
It got me thinking…how many of us hide parts of ourselves in order to protect ourselves from judgment?
At one time, maybe we felt confident and someone thought we were bragging, boasting or even arrogant.
Maybe we learned that being "too much" brought criticism, jealousy, or rejection.
Maybe we decided it wasn't safe to be fully seen and felt we needed to protect our gifts, our voice, our truth, our emotions, or even our visibility.
Hearing messages like that over and over again can easily impact our confidence.
So confidence becomes confidential.
From an emotional and energetic perspective, what happens inside when our confidence becomes hidden?
First, the energy of self-expression becomes restricted.
When we don't express what we're feeling, thinking or needing to say…the energy doesn't simply disappear…it gets stored.
Sometimes the body reflects what we've been holding back emotionally for years…our voice, our truth, our visibility or even our confidence.
Whether it's unspoken grief, anger, fear, or even joy, the body becomes the container for what we're unwilling or unable to express.
Second, we create a gap between who we truly are and who we allow others to see.
Confidence doesn't disappear when it's hidden. It simply goes underground. The energy is still there, but instead of being used for expression and growth, it's often used for protection and self-preservation.
Energetically, it's as if one part of us wants to expand while another part is trying to stay protected. This creates internal tension because our true self is seeking expression while fear is applying the brakes.
The deeper issue usually isn't a lack of confidence. It's that confidence has been placed behind protective walls.
The question then becomes: What part of ourselves have we kept confidential that's ready to be expressed?
When confidence becomes confidential, we often pay a price. We make ourselves smaller than we're meant to be and carry the weight of unexpressed potential.
What we're protecting may feel safe in the moment, but over time it prevents us from fully showing up as ourselves.
It's interesting that both words…confident and confidential…share the same root.
Sometimes what we're hiding isn't just our confidence. It's our true self seeking permission to be seen.
Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
