What Our Body's Holding Onto

Along my journey, I’ve learned many things about how the physical body functions. Some of those ideas didn’t make sense to me at the time, and I chose not to believe them. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of a different perspective about our physical bodies.

First, we’re a Soul having a human experience. By the grace of the Divine, we’re here to live and experience life. In order to do that, we have mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and energetic bodies.

Every day, we experience thoughts and feelings in response to what’s happening around us. Some are positive and some negative.

What happens to the thoughts and feelings we experience? Where do they go?

Some thoughts come and go naturally. They pass through us without leaving much of an impact. Others however, linger. These’re the thoughts that create unrest inside us. They often repeat themselves and are connected to deeper belief systems, usually of a more negative nature.

Here’s the perspective I’ve come to understand.

Our Soul doesn’t store anything. Our energy body doesn’t store anything. Our mental and emotional bodies don’t store anything in the way we might think.

Our physical body does. It acts like a container.

Think of it this way…a container doesn’t fill all at once. The first few things placed inside may not seem like much. But if nothing is released and we continue adding more, eventually the container reaches its capacity.

When that happens, something has to give.

In the same way, when we carry deep, ingrained negative beliefs or emotions, over time they begin to fill our physical body. And when that “container” becomes full, the body finds ways to get our attention.

We experience things like aches, pains, discomfort, illness, or disease.

Now, this isn’t about trying to eliminate all negative thoughts or emotions. That’s not realistic.

We’re human beings living real lives and we’ll naturally experience challenges, discomfort and negativity along the way.

This is about awareness.

It’s about becoming aware of what we’re thinking and feeling…not just emotionally, but physically as well. When we begin to notice what’s going on inside of us, we create an opportunity to understand ourselves more deeply.

Awareness is always the first step.

From there, we’re guided toward what works for us in releasing, healing and resolving what we’ve been carrying inside.

Each person’s path looks different and the invitation is the same…to listen, to notice and to respond with care.

Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you’ll always be guided to feel at peace inside.
