Power in Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is simply noticing what’s going on inside…our thoughts, emotions, and physical body sensations…as life unfolds around us. When we begin to look inward, we uncover insights that can change everything.

It sounds simple, but it’s powerful.

Because any unrest we feel…stress, frustration, overwhelm…can only truly be understood and resolved through that awareness.

I once heard a teaching that stayed with me: everything begins and ends with awareness. The more I’ve lived that, the more true it becomes.

When my email was hacked. I started receiving spam messages from my own address. At first, I brushed it off. I deleted them and moved on.

But they kept coming.

Twice a week turned into twice a day. One morning, I opened my inbox to three identical messages and something inside me reacted.

I felt it physically…tightness in my chest, mentally…thoughts of “I can’t stop this” and emotionally…frustration and helplessness.

And then…I cried.

That moment showed me what I’ve come to appreciate as important.

Whenever we feel unrest, it shows up in three ways:

  • the body (sensations),

  • the mind (thoughts),

  • and emotions.

They’re always connected.

The next day, I opened my email again…this time to seven messages. But something had shifted.

I didn’t feel powerless anymore. I felt calm. Clear. Even capable.

Nothing outside had changed…but inside, everything had.

I took action, handled what I could and was in a place of feeling less attached to the rest of it.

Not long after, the messages stopped.

That experience reminded me…self-awareness isn’t just about noticing…it transforms how we respond.

When we become aware, we shift from reacting…to choosing.

And that’s where our power is.

Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you’ll always be guided to feel at peace inside.
